Strategy for Ensuring Energy Security of the Visegrad Countries in Terms of Natural Gas

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the strategies for ensuring energy security of Visegrad group countries, especially in terms of security of natural gas supply. Within the context of several gas crises and changing structure of transit infrastructure I am comparing different strategies, presence of market or strategic approach and dependence on Russian gas imports. In the theses I am also comparing the position of natural gas in V4 energy mixes, their main interests regarding security of supply, possible ways of diversification and means of enhancing energy security as such. Also, I would like to focus on the V4 cooperation in this field, the role of EU and potential benefits but also obstacles of this cooperation.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá stratégiou zaistenia energetickej bezpečnosti krajín V4 a primárne bezpečnosťou dodávok zemného plynu ako strategickej energetickej suroviny. Východiskom je meniaca sa štruktúra tranzitných ciest a trhu so zemným plynom, ktorému sa krajiny V4 musia prispôsobiť. Porovnávať budem postavenie zemného plynu v energetickom mixe týchto krajín, mieru závislosti na dovoze z Ruska a možnosti diverzifikácie dodávateľov a tranzitných ciest. Práca sa bude tiež venovať možnosti spolupráce krajín V4 v tejto oblasti.
