The Influence of 3D Technologies on the Contemporary Sculptor Production, Illustrated by the Example of Michal Gabriel's Production

Abstract:

Tato práce popisuje průnik nástrojů a tvůrčích principů digitálního sochařství do tvorby současného českého sochaře Michala Gabriela. Jako digitální sochařství je popsána sochařská práce využívající při svém vzniku nejrůznější 3D nástroje, jejíž podmínkou je vznik hmotného artefaktu. Se zřetelem ke Gabrielově tvorbě v tradičním médiu, kde se již některé později rozvinuté tvůrčí principy objevily, postihuje na konkrétních příkladech z pozdější fáze autorovy tvorby základní tvůrčí strategie užívané při vzniku artefaktu s pomocí 3D technologií.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the introduction of the tools and creative principles of digital sculptory into the work of Michal Gabriel, a contemporary Czech sculptor. What is described as digital sculptory is such sculptory as uses various 3D tools and the condition of which is the introduction of a material artefact. With regards to Gabirel's production in a traditional medium, where some later developed creation principles have appeared, the basic production strategies used in the course of making an artefact by means of 3D technologies are described and illustrated particular examples.
