Eurasian Economic Union: Prospects and Problems of Development

Anotace:

This thesis studies the contemporary issues of regional integration processes based on the example of a recent formation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Given the fact that the creation of the EEU is a new phenomenon, there is a lack of comprehensive assessment of EEU functionality, as well as benefits and losses for its member states. Therefore, this thesis approaches the evaluation of EEU formation and functionality from political and economic perspectives and analyzes its strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, it makes an effort to investigate what kind of regionalism is taking place in the EEU and what are its future prospectives. Based on two comprehensive SWOT analyses of the EEU and a selected country, a set of policy applications and forecast scenarios has been developed. The findings of this thesis are relevant as a contribution to the rare literature on the EEU as well as for policy decision-making by Kazakhstan and EEU authorities.
