The success of new issues IPOs listed from 2005 on the market of the Prague Stock Exchange

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na oblast prvotních veřejných nabídek akcií nejčastěji označovaných termínem Initial Public Offering (IPO) společností, s jejímiţ akciemi se dosud veřejně neobchodovalo na trhu Burzy cenných papírů Praha (BCPP). Práce nejprve charakterizuje a popisuje teorii finančních trhů včetně struktury a segmentace, dále se zabývá znaky a podstatnými rysy akciové společnosti a zdroji financování její činnosti a rozvoje a také popisem procesu přípravy a realizace prvotní veřejné nabídky akcií včetně vývojových tendencí a trendů na světových kapitálových trzích. Praktická část představuje nejprve vývoj IPO na Burze cenných papírů Praha do roku 2005 a následně podrobně mapuje a popisuje uskutečněné prvotní veřejné nabídky akcií na BCPP od roku 2005 do současnosti. Poté srovnává výkonnost nově uvedených akciových emisí s vývojem indexu PX a ostatními akciemi společností obchodovanými na BCPP. V rámci posledního porovnání realizuje komparaci vývoje akcií společnosti New World Resources na trzích Burzy cenných papírů Praha a Varšavské burzy cenných papírů od uvedení k obchodování v roce 2008 do konce roku 2011. V závěru bakalářská práce hodnotí úspěšnost nových emisí IPO uvedených od roku 2005 na trh BCPP. Naplněním těchto jednotlivých kroků je splněn cíl diplomové práce, kterým je vytvoření celkového přehledu o vývoji prvotních veřejných nabídek akcií v České republice, analýza a vyhodnocení úspěšnosti nových emisí IPO uvedených od roku 2005 na trh Burzy cenných papírů Praha prostřednictvím konkrétních ukazatelů regulovaného burzovního trhu a také komparativní porovnání vývoje akcií NWR na trzích Burzy cenných papírů Praha a Varšavské burzy cenných papírů.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the area of initial public offers of shares most commonly referred to with the term Initial Public Offering (IPO) of companies whose shares have not been publicly traded so far on the market of the Prague stock exchange (PSE). Work first characterizes and describes the theory of financial markets, including the structure and segmentation, also deals with the characters and the essential features of joint-stock company and sources of financing its activities and development and also the description of the process of the preparation and implementation of the initial public offer of shares, including trends in the world capital markets. The practical part at first describes development of the IPO on the Prague stock exchange until 2005 and subsequently maps in details the realization of initial public offer of shares on the PSE from 2005 to present. Then it compares the performance of the newly listed stock emissions with the development of PX and the other shares of the companies traded on the PSE. In the context of the last comparison is carried out the development of shares New World Resources on the markets of the Prague stock exchange and Warsaw Stock Exchange from the introduction to trading in 2008 until the end of 2011. In conclusion, the thesis assesses the success of the new emissions IPO listed since 2005 on the market the PSE. By the fulfilment of these steps is fulfilled the aim of the thesis, which is an overall summary of the development of initial public offers of shares in the Czech Republic, the analysis and evaluation of the success of the new emissions IPO listed since 2005 on the market PSE through concrete indicators of the regulated stock market and also comparison of the development of shares NWR on the stock markets Prague stock exchange and the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
