Inclusion of a girl with Asperger syndrome in mainstream elementary school

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá inkluzí dívky s Aspergerovým syndromem na běžnou základní školu. Hlavním cílem práce je zhodnotit úspěšnost tohoto konkrétního případu inkluze. Dílčím cílem práce je popsat konkrétní projevy poruchy autistického spektra u sledované dívky a popsat jejich dopad na její vzdělávání. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol, z nichž dvě jsou teoretické. V první kapitole charakterizujeme poruchy autistického spektra, zmiňujeme základní terminologii a klasifikaci. V poslední podkapitole pak charakterizujeme Aspergerův syndrom. Druhá teoretická kapitola se věnuje základní problematice inkluze – vymezuje rozdíl mezi integrací a inkluzí, zmiňuje historii i současnou inkluzi a specifikuje vzdělávání žáků s Aspergerovým syndromem v běžné škole. Třetí kapitola je věnována kvalitativnímu výzkumu. Vymezuje cíl našeho výzkumu a metodologii. Dále obsahuje případovou studii a vyhodnocení našeho výzkumného šetření.

Abstract:

The main concern of this Bachelor thesis is the inclusion of a girl suffering with Asperger’s syndrome onto an ordinary primary school. The main goal is to evaluate the success of this particular inclusion case. The thesis also deals with the particular symptoms of the given girl’s autistic spectrum disorder and how it affects her education process. The thesis is divided into three chapters, two of them are theoretical. In the first chapter, it describes the autistic spectrum disorders, mentions the basic terminology and classification. The last subsection speaks about Asperger’s syndrome in particular. The second theoretical chapter is devoted to the Asperger’s syndrome challenges – if defines the difference between integration and inclusion, mentions the history and current inclusion and specifies the education of pupils suffering with Asperger’s in an ordinary school. The third chapter contains a qualitative research, defining my research goals and methodology. It also contains a case study and the research evaluation.
