Evil power in story "The Viy" N. Gogol's

Abstract:

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the evil spirits in the mystical novel in N.V. Gogol's story "Viy". Folklore sources and a portrait of Gogol's Viy are considered. The description of witch image of a witch in the novel by N.V. Gogol is given and the similarities and differences between Gogol's witch and Margarita in M. Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita" are shown. The symbolic meaning given to the abandoned rural church in the story is shown. The deplorable state of the church is an indicator of the inattention of the villagers to faith and to God. The image of Khoma Brutus is characterized. He cannot resist evil spirits and dies because he has no faith. The results of an online survey are described, the purpose of which is to study the ideas about the witch in the minds of native speakers of the Russian and Czech languages.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je věnována úvahám o postavách zlých duchů v příběhu N. V. Gogola "Vij". Uvažuje se o lidových pramenech a portrétu Gogolova Vije. Je zde uveden popis obrazu čarodějnice v příběhu od N. V. Gogola. Dále jsou zde uvedeny podobnosti a rozdíly mezi čarodějnicí od Gogola a Margaritou v románu M. Bulgakova "Mistr a Markétka". V příběhu je zobrazen symbolický význam daný opuštěnému venkovskému kostelu. Tristní stav kostela je ukazatelem nevšímavosti vesničanů k víře a Bohu. Charakteristický je obraz Chomy Bruta. Nedokáže odolat zlým duchům a umírá, protože nemá víru. Také jsou zde popsány výsledky online průzkumu, jehož účelem byla studie představ o čarodějnici v myslích rodilých rusky a česky mluvících lidí.
