Escherichia coli O157 je vysoce patogenním sérotypem enterohemoragické E. coli (EHEC). Escherichia coli O157 po kolonizaci GIT produkuje shiga-like toxin (verotoxin), způsobující hemoragickou kolitidu, která nejčastěji u dětí může vést až ke vzniku hemolyticko-uremického syndromu. Abstract:
Escherichia coli O157 is highly pathogenic serotype of enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC). After GIT colonization Escherichia coli O157 produces shiga-like toxin (verotoxin), which causes hemorrhagic colitis. Mostly at the children It can cause haemolytic-uraemic syndrome.
