Land of Hopes and Tears

Abstract:

Práce nastiňuje blízkovýchodní problematiku ve fotografiích, pomocí kterých ilustruje tamní složité vztahy a souvislosti. Je soustředěna na příčiny ostrého konfliktu mezi Židy a Araby a postoj jednotlivých komunit a osobností k tomuto vleklému problému. Je zde také dokumentováno úsilí o normální mírový život. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních kapitol. Tyto kapitoly jsou zaměřeny jednak na hlavní události první poloviny 20. století, které ovlivnily úsilí Židů o vytvoření vlastního státu na území Palestiny, jednak na období po vzniku státu Izrael až do současnosti. Důraz je položen na okolnosti, které lze považovat za nejvýznamnější pro vývoj na Blízkém východě. Je to postavení Židů po roce 1933 v Německu a jejich pronásledování za 2. světové války, šestidenní válka, Jomkippurská válka a následná mírová jednání Izraele s Egyptem, kde se poprvé zrodila reálná naděje na trvalé mírové urovnání blízkovýchodního sporu. Poslední část dokumentuje současné dění. V práci jsou použité snímky významných fotografů z dostupných knižních publikací a z Internetu.

Abstract:

The work deals with near eastern problems in photographs by the help of which it illustrates complicated terms and conjunctions. It is focused on causes of the keen conflict between Jews and Arabs and on the attitude of individual communities and personalities towards this chronic problem. The effort about normal peaceable life is documented here too. The work is parted into two chief chapters. These chaps are aimed partly on chief events of the first half of the 20th century which affected effort of the Jews about creation of own state on the territory of Palestine partly on period on rise of the state Israel until presents. The emphasis is laid on circumstantes which it is possible allowed to be the most considerable for development on Near East. They are station of Jews after a year 1933 in Germany and their persecution during the 2nd World War, Six-Day War, Yom Kippur War and subsequent peaceable summits between Israel and Egypt, where real hope of lasting peaceable adjustment of near eastern conflict brought forth for the first time. The last part proves by evidence concurrently events. Meaningful photographers photos from available book publications and from Internet are used in the work.
