Testament, právní institut umožňující zvolit si dědice pro případ smrti, vznikl již v římském právu. Práce proto začíná výkladem římskoprávních kořenů dědění z testamentu. Dále je mapován vývoj právní úpravy závěti na našem území od doby Rakouska-Uherska až do současnosti. Testament – legal institute that allows choosing a heir in case of death – was established in Roman law. Therefore this thesis begins with the interpretation of roman-law roots of testamentary succession.
