Transformation of political and social fear in Argentina in the 80s and 90s of the 20th century into the fantastic in the works of Mariana Enríquez

Abstract:

The objective of this work was the analysis of a novel and several short stories by Argentine author Mariana Enriquez. In the introductory part we have shown some characteristics of the fantastic genre and the gothic concept. During the work there is an approach to the transformation of a political horror to a rather literary horror and the location to various parts of Argentina from the underground to the margins of Buenos Aires. There is also a focus not only on the darkest places but there are also many references to an inner struggle of the characters who have to survive in very supernatural conditions.

Abstract:

El objetivo de este trabajo era el análisis de una novela y varios cuentos de autora argentina Mariana Enriquez. En la parte introductiva hemos mostrado algunas características del género fantástico y del concepto gótico. Durante el trabajo hay un enfoque a la transformación de un horror político a un horror más bien literario y la ubicación a varias partes de Argentina desde el subterráneo hasta los márgenes de Buenos Aires. También hay un enfoque no solamente hacia los lugares más oscuros sino también hay muchas referencias a una lucha interior de los personajes que tienen que sobrevivir en unas condiciones muy sobrenaturales.
