Comparison of burnout among members of Police and Fire Rescue

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou syndromu vyhoření u příslušníků pořádkové a dopravní policie České republiky Městské ředitelství policie Ostrava a hasičů záchranářů hasičského záchranného sboru v Ostravě. Primárním cílem bylo zjistit, na jaké úrovni je syndrom vyhoření v těchto dvou základních složkách integrovaného záchranného systému - na pozicích pořádkových a dopravních policistů a na pozici hasič záchranář, zda je jeho míra vyšší u hasičů či policistů a zda má délka služebního poměru nebo úroveň dosaženého vzdělání souvislost s mírou vyhoření. Sekundárním cílem bylo určení nejčastějších stresových faktorů, které můžou vést k rozvoji syndromu vyhoření u příslušníků jednotlivých složek a zjištění, zda příslušníci považují opatření k omezení tohoto syndromu ze strany zaměstnavatele za dostačující. Terciálním cílem je poskytnout výsledky výzkumu jako studijní materiál pracovníkům ve vedoucích funkcích a psychologům obou organizací. Při zjištění vyššího výskytu syndromu vyhoření na pozicích pořádkových policistů a hasičů záchranářů navrhnout postupy k omezení tohoto výskytu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the problem of burnout syndrome of the uniformed police officers of Ostrava city headquarters of the Police of the Czech Republic and memebers of the Fire Rescue Service of Ostrava. The primary objective was to determine what level of burnout syndrome is in the two major components of the integrated rescue system - in positions of an uniformed police and a firefighter, whether the rate of the syndrome is higher among firefighters or police officers , and whether the length of service or level of education is related to burnout syndrome. The secondary objective was to determine the most common stressors that can lead to the development of burnout syndrome among members of the various components of IRS and determine whether the members consider the precaution to reduce this syndrome done by the employer to be sufficient. The third objective is to provide research results as study material to chief workers and psychologists in both organizations. When finding a higher incidence of burnout syndrome in positions of an uniformed police and a firemen rescuers to suggest ways to reduce this occurrence.
