The main aim of the thesis is to analyze and compare two controversies which rose in the United States after publishing the novels The Confessions of Nat Turner by William Styron and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The thesis focuses on the reasons for, the nature, the consequences, and the comparison of these controversies. Hlavním cílem této práce je analýza a porovnání dvou kontroverzí, které vznikly po publikování románů Doznání Nata Turnera od Williama Styrona a Černobílý svět od Kathryn Stockettové. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na příčiny, průběh, důsledky a porovnání těchto dvou kontroverzí. Autorka zkoumá recenze, články a další relevantní materiál spojený s romány.
