Crowdfunding as a source of funding for book publishing

Abstract:

Crowdfunding je druh financování, kdy se větší množství drobných přispěvatelů spojí, aby mohl vzniknout jeden ucelený projekt. Cílem diplomové práce je zhodnocení vlivu motivace na výběr crowdfundingové platformy Startovač pro financování knih na základě kvantitativního výzkumu. Identifikovat jaké faktory hrají roli v úspěchu knižní crowdfundingové kampaně a naopak s jakými problémy se autoři potýkali. Dále práce popisuje veškeré úkony, které s vydáváním knih souvisí a dává je do kontextu financování knihy přes crowdfunding. Bylo zjištěno, že faktory úspěchu jsou mezi kampaněmi rozdílné, ale pro většinu kampaní je klíčová aktivní komunita a důsledně provedené plánování, kterým lze předejít většině problémů.

Abstract:

Crowdfunding is a type of funding where a large number of small contributors come together to create one coherent project. The aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the influence of motivation on the choice of the crowdfunding platform Startovac for book financing based on quantitative research. Identify what factors have a role in the success of the book crowdfunding campaign and what problems the authors faced. Furthermore, the thesis describes all the tasks that are related to the publication of books and puts them in the context of financing the book through crowdfunding. Findings include that success factors vary between campaigns, but for most campaigns, an active community is key, and with sufficient planning, most problems can be avoided.
