Analysis of the impacts of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs 4-6) in selected countries of Africa and Asia

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na analýzu dat Rozvojových cílů tisíciletí ve vybraných státech Afriky a Asie. K porovnání jednotlivých států byla určena data z roku 1990 a cílový rok byl brán 2015. Z Nejméně rozvinutých zemí Afriky a Asie, které byly předmětem zkoumání, nejlépe dopadly Bhútán, Kambodža, Laos a Mauritánie. Většině státům se podařilo splnit snížení dětské úmrtnosti o 2/3. Naopak snížit mateřskou úmrtnost o 3/4 se nepodařilo většině zemí, stejně tak jako zvrátit šíření HIV/AIDS. Polovině zemí se podařilo snížit úmrtnost na tuberkulózu k náhradnímu cílovému roku 2007. Celkově bylo úspěšných více než 50 % vybraných LDCs. Tři státy nesplnily žádný zadaný cíl (Středoafrická republika, Lesotho a Mauritánie).

Abstract:

The presented work is focused on data analysis of the Millennium Development Goals in the selected countries of Africa and Asia. The subject of the comparison were the data of countries collected within the year 1990, the year 2015 was set as the target year. Among the Least Developed Countries of Africa and Asia, which are subject of my research, were Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos and Mauritania. The majority of the selected countries successfully reduced child mortality by two-thirds. On the other hand, most countries failed in the reduction of maternal mortality by three-quarters and did not avert the spread of HIV/AIDS. Half of the countries met the goal and reduced tuberculosis mortality by the target year of 2007. Overall, more than 50 % of the selected Least Developed Countries were successful. Only three states did not meet any targets at all (Central African Republic, Lesotho and Mauritania).
