Movement, sequence and timelessness in conceptual and post-conceptual photography

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vztahem pohybu a mýtů v obrazových médiích. Tento vztah je projektován do prostředí závodní cyklistiky a fotografického žánru polního studia. V úvodní části se text věnuje vývoji obrazových médií. V další části se téma soustředí na strukturu obrazových médií uvnitř profesionálního cyklistického závodu. Na tuto část navazuje charakteristika závodu z pohledu mytologie. Následující kapitoly řeší strukturu a historický vývoj tvorby fotografií v polním studiu. V závěru teoretické části práce je představeno několik uměleckých projektů vytvořených v polních studiu. Těmito projekty se snažím rozšířit vymezené definice polního studia a analyzovat, jakými způsoby lze reflektovat mýty pomocí fotografického média. V praktické části tvořím galerijní instalaci, kde pomocí několika obrazových medií, rozkrývám bezprostřední události po průjezdu jezdce cílovou rovinkou.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the relationship between movement and myths in visual media. This relationship is projected into the environment of race cycling and the photographic genre of the field studio. In the introductory section, the text examines the development of visual media. In the next section, the topic focuses on the structure of visual media within the professional bicycle race. This section is followed by a characterisation of the race from the perspective of mythology. Subsequent chapters address the structure and historical development of photo production in the field studio. The theoretical part of the thesis concludes by presenting several artistic projects created in field studios. Through these projects I seek to expand the delineated definitions of the field studio and analyze the ways in which myths can be reflected through the photographic medium. In the practical part I create a gallery installation, where I use several visual media to reveal the immediate events after the rider passes through the finishing line.
