Abstract:

Alberik Mazák, O. Cist. byl středoevropský skladatel 17. stol. Z jeho díla se dochovalo 217 skladeb, a z nich 31 jako fragment ve sbírce Cultus Harmonicus Op. III. Práce se snaží stručně charakterizovat dílo na základě rozboru několika typových skladeb. Pro hudebně rétorickou analýzu bylo zvoleno sólové moteto M101 Te decet laus a následující M102 Sub tuum praesidium. Prvé je příkladem Mazákovy strohé monodie, která je charakteristická absolutní prostotou. M102 Sub tuum praesidium představuje model recitativního moteta s nepravidelným střídáním metra bez změny označení taktu. Pro ukázku vícehlasého koncertantního moteta bylo vybráno M173 Magnificat se zajímavou formou dialogu. Vyprávění veršů jednotlivými hlasy A, T, B, je prokládáno pravidelným opakováním stejného melodického motivu sopránu na úvodní text „Magnificat anima mea Dominum“. M245 Te Deum pro osm koncertantních hlasů a ripieny bylo zařazeno do analýzy, jako zástupce velkých motet. Rozborem se poukázalo na řídkost sazby, pouhé střídání jednotlivých hlasů nebo dvojic a zapojení plného obsazení jen v závěrech. Závěry jsou typicky řešeny krátkým imitačním a homofonním úsekem (figurou fuga a noëma). Výsledek rétorických analýz ukázal na programovou výstavbu kompozic, používání figur a stylizaci afektů. Práce navrhuje systém uspořádání díla a přidělení katalogových čísel. Incipitový katalog a seznamy skladeb jsou přílohou práce.

Abstract:

The Cistercian monk Alberik Mazák was a 17th century Central European composer. There are 217 of his compositions known, 31 of them fragmentary, surviving in the printed collection Cultus Harmonicus op. III. This paper tries to characterize Mazák’s output briefly; it is based on analysis of several of his compositions. Two solo motets M101 Te decet laus and the following M102 Sub tuum praesidium were analysed here from the point of view of the musical rhetorics. First of them is an example of Mazak’s simple and austere monody writing. M102 Sub tuum praesidium is a motet written in a recitative style, with irregular and variable metre, while the time signature does not change. M173 Magnificat was selected as a sample of polyphonic, concertante motet, interesting for its dialogue form. Verses performed here by single voices A, T, B alternate with soprano, which regularly repeats the same melodic motive, written to the opening text "Magnificat anima mea Dominum". M245 Te Deum for eight concertante voices and tutti has been included in the analysis as a large-scale motet example. The analysis shows sparseness of the score, alternating single voices or pairs, while the full cast is employed just in the closing sections. A section typically concludes by a short imitation and homophonic section (fuga and noëma figures). The rhetoric analyses document programme construction of the compositions, usage of rhetoric figures and stylisation of affects. The paper suggests a system according to which Mazák’s works should be listed, including the allocation of catalogue numbers. The paper is supplemented by an incipit catalogue and lists of compositions.
