Searching for improvised explosive devices during security screening of incoming shipments

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the searching of explosives in shipped parcel during the security check, in form of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part of the work describes the basic division of terrorism and the description of the targets of terrorist attacks. In the thesis, there is a chapter about dokuments that define the fight against terrorism. The next part defines the emergency event and the description of the interventing components of the integrated rescue system. The thesis contains an explanation of the explosives along with the means of destoying explosives. A separate chapter describes the types of injuries that may occure. The thesis is also about technologies that are used in the field of security. The last part of the theoretical work is concluded with a chpter that describes the specific characteristics of a suspicious shipment. The practical part of the thesis includes a practical experiment with the Rapiscan 520B detector. The thesis also includes an experiment with the SCANMAIL 10K device, which is intended for security check of the shipped parceles. The last part of the practical part of the thesis is focused on suggestion for a combination of detection devices in the case of inspection of recieved parcles.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca sa zameriava na vyhľadanie nástražných výbušných systémov pri bezpečnostnej kontrole prijatých zásielok vo forme teoretickej a praktickej časti. Teoretická časť práce popisuje základné rozdelenie terorizmu a popis cieľov teroristických útokov. V práci je kapitola venovaná dokumentom, ktoré definujú boj proti terorizmu. Ďalšia časť definuje mimoriadnu udalosť a popis zasahujúcich zložiek integrovaného záchranného systému. V práci je vysvetlenie problematiky nástražného výbušného systému spolu s prostriedkami k zničeniu nástražného výbušného systému. Samostatná kapitola je venovaná poraneniam, ktoré môžu vzniknúť v prípade zasiahnutia. Práca sa tiež venuje technológiám, ktoré sa využívajú v oblasti bezpečnosti. Posledná časť teoretickej práce je zakončená kapitolou, ktorá popisuje znaky podozrivej zásielky. Praktická časť práce obsahuje vykonanie praktického experimentu s detektorom Rapiscan 520B. Práca tiež obsahuje experiment s prístrojom SCANMAIL 10K, ktorý je určený na kontrolu listových zásielok. Záver práce tvorí kapitola o návrhu kombinácii detekčných prístrojov v prípade kontroly prijatých zásielok.
