Stagings of Ubu the King : Ostrava 2016, Brno 2017

Abstract:

My bachelor thesis entitled Stagings of Ubu the King: Ostrava 2016, Brno 2017 analyzes two stagings of Alfred Jarry's play Ubu the King. The Ostrava staging was created under the direction of Jan Frič at the National Moravian-Silesian Theater. In the same season 2016/2017, Vladimír Morávek directed his staging at Theater Goose on a String in Brno. The theoretical introduction deals with the life and work of Alfred Jarry, the development of French theater at the end of the 19th century and Jarry's influence on it. It also studies a connections between Jarry, the avant-garde and the absurd drama, as well as the staging possibilities of the text. The main part of the work deals with the formal and content comparison of the play and both stagings, or the way they deal with the controversy stemming from the text of the play.

Mon mémoire de licence Mises en sc?ne d'Ubu roi : Ostrava 2016, Brno 2017 analyse deux mises en sc?ne de la pi?ce française Ubu roi d'Alfred Jarry. La mise en sc?ne d'Ostrava a été créée par Jan Frič au Théâtre national de Moravie-Silésie, dans la m?me saison théâtrale 2016/2017, Vladimír Morávek a mis en sc?ne sa représentation au Théâtre L'Oie ? la ficelle. L'introduction théorique traite de la vie et de l'?uvre d'Alfred Jarry, du développement du théâtre français ? la fin du XIXe si?cle et de l'influence de Jarry sur ce développement. Le mémoire cherche également des liens entre Jarry, l'avant-garde et le théâtre de l'absurde, ainsi que les possibilités actuelles de mise en sc?ne du texte. La partie principale du mémoire apporte ma propre analyse de la forme et du contenu de la pi?ce et celle des deux mises en sc?nes et elle s'intéresse ? la mani?re dont les deux mises en sc?ne créent la controverse prenant sa source dans le texte.
