Influence of Humidity on Thermoplastics Used in Automotive

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá změnami vlastností kompozitů polybutylentereftalátu v důsledku expozice specifickým kombinacím teploty a relativní vlhkosti. Vzorky byly po dobu 250, 500, 1000 a 2000 hodin vystaveny teplotám 65 a 85 °C a relativním vlhkostem 93 a 85 %. Následně byly zkoumány struktury vzorků a jejich tepelné, elektrické a mechanické vlastnosti. Bylo zjištěno, že uvedené kombinace teploty a relativní vlhkosti měly zásadní vliv pouze na mechanické vlastnosti zkoumaného materiálu.

Abstract:

This study focuses on the changes in the properties of polybutylene terephthalate composites resulting from exposure to specific combinations of temperature and relative humidity. The samples were exposed to temperatures of 65 and 85 °C and relative humidities of 93 and 85% for durations of 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 hours. Subsequently, the structures of the samples and their thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties were examined. It was found that the mentioned combinations of temperature and relative humidity had a significant influence only on the mechanical properties of the investigated material.
