Politics - Nations and Nationalism

Abstract:

Anotace Cílem této bakalářské práce je zamyšlení se nad otázkami: kdy a jak vznikal nacionalismus, jaký byl jeho vývoj, jaké byly jeho projevy v minulosti našeho státu. Práce vychází z interpretace a názorů na národ, nacionalismus a stát Arnošta Gellnera, Miroslava Hrocha a Ernesta Renana. První kapitola se zabývá významem pojmů národ, stát a nacionalismus, jejich vysvětlením a popisem historie a vývojem těchto významů. Druhá kapitola se pokusí v několika větách přiblížit především dílo našeho nejvýznamnějšího badatele v tomto oboru – Arnošta Gellnera. T. G. Masaryk a nacionalismus první republiky – zamyšlení se nad českým nacionalismem v období první republiky jako téma třetí kapitoly a srovnání pohledu na národ před válkou a po roce 1948 ve čtvrté kapitole tuto bakalářskou práci zakončí.

Abstract:

Annotation The aim of Bachelor thesis is to reflect on the questions what the origin of nationalism was, how it was progressed and what it was like in the past of our country. It is based on Arnošt Gellner’s, Miroslav Hroch’s and Ernest Renan’s interpretation and opinions on nation and nationalism. The first part is devoted to the meaning of terms nation, country and nationalism. The second part is trying in a few sentences to bring near work of our greatest researcher in this field - Arnošt Gellner. T. G. Masaryk and nationalism of the first Republic – reflection on Czech nationalism during the first Republic is the main topic of the third part. Comparison of views on nation before the war and the period of time after 1948 are described in the final fourth part of Bachelor thesis.
