Institutional Economics in the Works of Mancur Olson

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce „Institucionální ekonomie v pojetí Mancura Olsona“ je rozbor tří stěžejních děl tohoto autora. Práce je z velké části zaměřena na kritické zhodnocení Olsonových děl z pohledu jiných ekonomů. Text přibližuje a vysvětluje Olsonovy myšlenky a stěžejní teze jeho díla a podrobuje je kritickému náhledu, ve kterém jsou shrnuty názory jiných autorů poukazující na nedostatky i silné stránky Olsonova díla. Součástí práce je také rešerše dalších odborných textů, které na Olsona navazují nebo jeho díla rozšiřují. V závěru je poukázáno na složitosti vznikající při překladu do češtiny a je shrnut vývoj Olsonových argumentů a postojů.

Abstract:

The subject of the submitted thesis “Institutional Economics in the Works of Mancur Olson” is a literature review of the main works written by this author. The thesis is primarily devoted to the critical evaluation of the works. The review explains the Olson’s thoughts and the main principles of his works and gives the critical insight in which attitudes of other authors are summarized to point out weaknesses and strengthens of Olson’s works. Another part of thesis reviews expert articles which follows or extends Olson’s topics. In the conclusion of the work the difficulties arising from translation in Czech are pointed out and the development of Olson’s arguments and attitudes is summarized.
