Genetic analysis of body weight in a selected breed of goats.

Abstract:

Bohužel trend v chovu koz s masnou užitkovostí je v České republice na ústupu. V roce 2021 bylo v České republice podle kontroly užitkovosti 184 kusů kozy búrské. I z tohoto důvodu byla tato práce napsána. Při zvýšení užitkovosti správným šlechtitelským postupem je zde možnost zvýšit živou hmotnost zvířat, a tím i zvýšit zájem chovatelů o toto plemeno. Práce se zabývala popisem jednotlivých genetických parametrů, obecným přehledem pro odhady těchto genetických parametrů a odhadem plemenné hodnoty pro růstové ukazatele. V rámci literární rešerše byly uvedeny práce zabývající se tématikou živé hmotnosti u různých plemen koz napříč celým světem. Krom kozy búrské jsou zde zmíněna i plemena jako: angorská koza, plemeno ardi, damašská koza, plemeno draa, emirati, jamunapari, markhoz nebo naeini. Data pro práci byla poskytnuta Svazem chovatelů ovcí a koz z.s.. Jako závislá proměnná byla zvolena hmotnost při odstavu. Odstav se provádí zhruba ve 100 dnech života (60 až 130 dnů). Náhodný efekt byl určen jediný, a to jedinec. Mezi fixní efekty byl zařazen chov, pohlaví kůzlete, četnost kůzlat ve vrhu, váha kůzlat při narození a věk při odstavu ve dnech. Jednotlivé fixní efekty byly testovány procedurou GLM v programu SAS 9.4. Statisticky průkazný byl pouze efekt pohlaví, váha kůzlat při narození a věk při odstavu ve dnech. Tyto efekty byly využity pro sestavení modelové rovnice. Koeficient dědivosti byl odhadnut na základě výsledků z programu remlf90.exe. Koeficient dědivosti byl odhadnut extrémně vysoký (h2 = 0,96). Tento výsledek se neshoduje se studiemi na stejné téma. Výsledná hodnota je nereálná. Takto vysoká hodnota je pravděpodobně dána nedostatečným rozsahem vstupních dat. Korelace mezi váhou při odstavu a váhou při narození, či věkem při odstavu, vyšla kladná. Naopak korelace mezi váhou při odstavu a četností mláďat ve vrhu vyšla záporná. V kapitole diskuze došlo k porovnání výsledků této práce s výsledky prací nejenom o koze búrské, ale i o jiných plemenech zmíněných výše.

Abstract:

Unfortunately, the trend in breeding goats with meat production is on the decline in the Czech Republic. In 2021, there were 184 Boer goats in the Czech Republic according to the performance check. It i salso for this reason that this thesis was written. If the efficienci is increased by proper breeding, there is a possibility to increase the body weight of the animals and thus increase the interest of breeders in this breed. This thesis dealt with the description of individual genetic parameters, a general overview for the estimation of there genetic parameters and the estimation of breeding value for growth parameters. The research included thesis dealing with live weight in different goat breeds across the world. In addition to the Boer goat, breeds such as the Angora goat, Ardi goat, Damascus goat, Draa goat, Emirati goat, Jamunapari goat, Markhoz goat and Naeini goat are also mentioned. Data for this thesis were provided by the Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders in Czech Republic. As the dependent variable was chosen weaning weights. Weaning is done at about 100 days of life (60 to 130 days). The random effect was only one, namely individual. Fixed effects included breeding, kid sex, kid frequency in litter, kid weight at birth and age at weaning in days. Fixed effects included herd, kid sex, kid frequency in litter, kid weight at birth and age at weaning in days. Individual fixed effects were tested with the GLM procedure in SAS 9.4. Only the effect of sex, kid weight at birth and age at weaning in days was statistically significant. These effects were used to build the model. The heritability was estimated based on the results from remlf90.exe program. Heritability was estimated extremely high (h2 = 0,96). This result is not consistent with studies on the same topic. The result is unrealistic. This high valu eis probably due to the insufficient range of input data. The correlation between weaning weight and birth weight or age at weaning was positive. On the other hand, the correlation between weaning weight and litter frequency was negative. In the discussion chapter, the results of this thesis were compared with the results of works not only on the Boer goat, but also on the other breeds mentioned above.
