Identification and deermination of steroids in environmental matrixes

Abstract:

V posledních 50 letech došlo k výraznému vzrůstu používání estrogenů v medicíně (antikoncepce, řízení menopauzy a postmenopauzálních syndromů, léčba prostaty a rakoviny) a v chovu hospodářských zvířat (rychlejší růst dobytka). Estrogeny se dostávají do vod prostřednictvím výtoku z čističek odpadních vod, kde nejsou zcela odstraněny. Důsledky přítomnosti těchto látek v prostředí nejsou známy, uvádí se feminizace ryb a jiné negativní dopady. Proto je důležité mít informace o obsahu těchto látek v jednotlivých složkách prostředí. Cílem této práce je vypracování literární rešerše o problematice stanovení estrogenů pomocí HPLC-MS-MS v různých environmentálních matricích, sledování obsahu těchto látek v České republice. V experimentální části byla provedena série měření s cílem optimalizovat metodu tak, aby byla použitelná pro analýzu reálných vzorků s nízkými hladinami těchto sloučenin.

Abstract:

In the past five decades, there have been considerable increases in the consumption of estrogens for human medicine (i.e. contraception, management of menopausal and postmenopausal syndrome and treatment of prostate and cancers) and animal farming (growth promoters). Estrogens reach the aquatic environment mainly via effluents from wastewater-treatment plants. The consequences of the presence of these substances in the environment are still largely unknown, but some negative impacts have been reported (i.e. feminization of fish). It is important to have information about the amount of these substances in particular parts of environment. The aim of this work is to deal with a problematic of determination of estrogens with HPLC-MS-MS in different environmental matrices, monitoring of the state of these substances in the Czech Republic. In the experimental part the method was optimized to find the proper conditions for the analysis of estrogens with low detection limits in real matrices.
