Diversity Management and its Effect on Employee Performance

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku diversity managementu v organizacích a jaký má tato součást strategie řízení lidských zdrojů vliv na výkon zaměstnanců. Teoretická část obsahuje stručný popis pojmu diverzita a samotného diversity managementu, strukturování, výhody a nevýhody. Dále jsou popsány hlavní aspekty primární dimenze diversity managementu a sekundární dimenze diversity managementu. Následně je stručně popsán legislativní rámec spolu se zákoníkem práce a antidiskriminačním zákonem. A posledním bodem je stručně popsána psychologie v organizaci. Praktická část obsahuje stručný popis organizace, v níž byla získávána data pro kvantitativní výzkum – dotazník. Následně je pro přehlednost vypsán obsah dotazníku, který je následně podrobně zpracován. V dalším kroku praktické části jsou stanoveny tři výzkumné problémy spolu s hypotézami, které jsou následně potvrzeny či zamítnuty. V poslední řadě bylo zvoleno pět respondentů pro konkrétní představu jejich pohledu na problematiku diversity managementu v závislosti na jejich odpovědi v dotazníku. V následujícím bodě je zhodnocen přístup k diversity managementu zaměstnanců vybraného podniku. Poslední část diplomové práce je zaměřena na doporučení pro praxi. Cílem diplomové práce je na základě analýzy a kvantitativního výzkumu zjistit, jaký je vliv diversity managementu na výkon zaměstnanců ve vybraném odvětví.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the issue of diversity management in organizations and how this part of human resource management strategy affects the performance of employees. The theoretical part includes a brief description of the concept of diversity and diversity management itself, structuring, advantages and disadvantages. It also describes the main aspects of the primary dimension of diversity management and the secondary dimension of diversity management. The legislative framework is then briefly described, together with the Labour Code and the Anti-Discrimination Act. And lastly, the psychology in the organization is briefly described. The practical part contains a brief description of the organisation in which the data for the quantitative research – the questionnaire – was collected. Subsequently, the content of the questionnaire is listed for clarity and then elaborated in detail. In the next step of the practical part, three research problems are stated along with hypotheses, which are subsequently confirmed or rejected. Lastly, five respondents were selected to get a concrete idea of their perspective on the issue of diversity management according to their answers in the questionnaire. In the following section, the attitude towards diversity management of the employees of the selected company is evaluated. The last part of the thesis focuses on recommendations for practice. The thesis aims to determine, based on analysis and quantitative research, the impact of diversity management on the performance of employees in a chosen sector.
