Milan Kundera, the probe into the author's work and the Czech - Polish reception

Abstract:

Práce si klade za cíl podchytit literárněkritickou reflexi díla Milana Kundery a ukázat reflexe vybraných literárních motivů, vystupujících v jeho tvorbě: motiv dějin, identity, dítěte, těla a duše, lehkosti a tíže. Jedna z kapitol se rovněž zabývá teorií možných světů v díle Milana Kundery. Časovým rámcem české a polské recepce se stává polovina padesátých let 20. století a první desetiletí 21. století. Metodologickým východiskem se staly literárněvědné postupy, které uplatnil český polonista Petr Poslední. V práci se komentuje bohatý, ale různorodý bibliografický soupis recenzí, studií, článků. Při srovnání zjišťujeme, že v české reflexi převažuje tón společenský a umělecky kritický, spatřujeme výrazné odlišnosti mezi jednotlivými skupinami kritiků, polské přijetí Kunderova díla je jednoznačně pozitivní, ovšem mnohdy publicisticky informativní. Kunderovo dílo není v úplnosti přeloženo do češtiny, což se stává pro českou stranu mnohdy limitující, u polské kritiky se v posledních desetiletích zase mnohem méně zdůrazňuje, že je Kundera českým autorem. Vnímá se jako autor českého původu píšící francouzsky. Kunderova tvorba vzbuzuje u polských čtenářů dlouholetý a živý zájem, autorovy knihy vycházejí záhy po prvním vydání v zahraničí, a to ve vysokých nákladech.

Abstract:

The thesis aims to capture the reflection of the work of literary critics Milan Kundera and show reflection of selected literary themes that appear in his literary output: theme of history, identity, child, body and soul, lightness and weight. One chapter also deals with the theory of possible worlds in the work of Milan Kundera. The timeframe of Czech and Polish reception becomes the 1950s and the first decade of the 21st century. Methodological ground are literary procedures applied by the Czech Polonist Petr Poslední. The thesis comments on the rich, but diverse bibliography of reviews, studies, articles. By comparison, we find out that in the Czech reflection, social and literary-critical tone prevails, we notice significant differences between groups of critics, Polish acceptance of Kundera's work is clearly positive, but it is often in the form of informative journalism. Kundera's work is not fully translated into Czech, which often becomes limiting for the Czech side, Polish criticism in recent decades does not emphasize so much that Kundera is a Czech author. He is perceived as a writer of Czech origin who writes in French. Kundera's literary output inspires longtime and keen interest with Polish readers, his books are published soon after the first edition abroad, and at large number of copies.
