Comparison of human figure drawings from children with mild intellectual impairment and from talented children

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je komparace kresby lidské postavy u dvou relativně odlišných skupin dětí, z nichž jednu tvoří žáci nadprůměrně nadaní a druhou skupinou jsou žáci s lehkým mentálním postižením. V teoretické části je vymezen legislativní rámec týkající se žáků se speciálními vzdělávacími potřebami na základní škole, Rámcový vzdělávací program a Školní vzdělávací program. Popsána je zde také osobnost žáka s lehkým mentálním postižením. Dále je věnována pozornost nadaným dětem a pojmům, jako jsou nadání, talent, inteligence a tvořivost. Je zde charakterizována emocionální a sociální stránka mimořádně nadaných dětí. Je popsán vývoj dětské kresby a kresba lidské postavy z hlediska jejího vývoje i jako diagnostického fenoménu. Podrobněji specifikována je kresba dětí s mentálním postižením. Praktická část se zaměřuje na analýzu předem stanovených jevů v kresbě lidské postavy u dvou odlišných skupin žáků, z nichž jednu tvoří žáci nadaní a druhou žáci s lehkým mentálním postižením. Cílem diplomové práce je analyzovat a porovnat kresebný projev lidské postavy u výše zmíněných skupin žáků. Stanovené hypotézy se výzkumem nepotvrdily, ale ukázalo se, že figurální kresba nadaných dětí je jak z formálního, tak z obsahového hlediska na vyšší úrovni, než figurální kresba dětí s lehkým mentálním postižením, přičemž formální stránka kresby dosahuje u nadaných mnohem vyšší úrovně a to především v některých znacích.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with a comparison of human figure drawings produced by two distinct groups of students, namely exceptionally gifted students and students with mild intellectual impairment. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the legislation aimed at educating students with special needs at elementary schools, specifically the Framework Education Programme for Basic Education and the School Educational Programme. In addition, it discusses the personality characteristics of students with mild intellectual disability and introduces terms such as gifted children, gift, talent, intelligence and creativity. Furthermore, it explores the emotional and social impacts in exceptionally talented children, the natural progress in children’s drawings and drawings of human figure as a diagnostic tool. Figure drawing produced by children with intellectual disabilities is given particular attention. In the practical part of the thesis, a set of pre-selected features in the human figure drawing is analysed in a group of exceptionally gifted students and students with mild intellectual impairment. The aim of the thesis is to analyse and compare the human figure drawings in both groups indicated above. Based on the findings, the research hypotheses were rejected as figure drawing produced by exceptionally gifted students displayed higher quality in both formal and content criteria when compared to that of the students with mild intellectual impairment, with the formal quality being significantly higher in exceptionally gifted students, especially in terms of some aspects.
