The Utilization of Immunohistochemistry At the Examination of Sentinel Lymph Nodes

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou sentinelové uzliny a imunohistochemickými metodami, které mají velký význam pro jejich správné vyšetření. Teoretická část obsahuje obecný úvod do histologie a imunohistochemie, včetně přípravy preparátu. Podstatnou částí je kapitola pojednávající o sentinelové lymfatické uzlině, jejím způsobu detekce, následném vyšetření a o metastázování maligního melanomu. Praktická část popisuje postup zpracování sentinelových uzlin u maligního melanomu na Ústavu patologie ve Fakultní nemocnici v Ostravě a výsledky bioptického vyšetření. Práce je doplněna statistickými údaji, fotodokumentací, tabulkami a také grafy. Cílem práce bylo pochopit způsob zpracování sentinelových uzlin a seznámit se s imunohistochemickými metodami používanými při diagnóze maligního melanomu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of sentinel nodes and immunohistochemical methods that are essential for the appropriate examination. The theoretical part includes the general introduction into histology and immunohistochemistry, together with making a preparation. The key part is the chapter describing sentinel lymphatic nodes, the method of their detection, the consequent examination and a section about metastasis of malignant melanoma. The practical part describes the procedure of treatment of sentinel nodes of malignant melanoma in the Institute of Pathology at the University Hospital in Ostrava, and also the results of bioptic examination. The statistical data were included in the thesis together with photographs, charts and also graphs. The aim of the thesis was to understand the method of treatment of sentinel nodes and to comprehend immunohistochemical methods used at the diagnosis of a malignant melanoma.
