Abstract:

Cestovní ruch patří mezi jeden z nejvíce zranitelných sektorů ekonomiky. Rozvoj cestovního ruchu je totiž přímo ovlivněn kolísajícím hospodářským cyklem, stejně jako neočekávaným vývojem poptávky v oblasti turistiky. Pokud vývoj ekonomiky očekává pokles, který s sebou přináší negativní dopady, pak opatření, jež mají zmírnit jeho následky, vycházejí ze své podstaty z opatření, jejíž účinnost byla prověřena v předchozích krizích. Cílem této práce je hledání odpovědí na otázku, jak finanční krize 2008, z které se později vyvinula celosvětová recese, ovlivnila světovou ekonomiku se zaměřením na hoteliérství. Práce je proto rozdělena do několika částí. Každá část analyzuje rozdílné aspekty s cílem pochopit dané téma jako celek. Autor kombinuje komparativní analýzu hlavních makroekonomických ukazatelů a statistických dat z jedné vybrané země na vybraném kontinentu, které ukazují růst a blahobyt cestovního ruchu, a využívá k následné analýze dopadů zapříčiněných recesí. Autor analyzuje data z roku před, během a po krizi, tak aby byl schopen zachytit trend vývoje cestovního ruchu.

Abstract:

The hospitality industry is one of the most vulnerable sectors in the economy. Its blossoming is directly connected to the fluctuating business cycle and unexpected progress in tourist’s demand. When an economy is expecting some radical development that has mainly negative impacts the decisions that are made are supported by knowledge gathered from previous experiences to get an easier visualization of what is to come. The purpose of this thesis is to answer the question of how the world’s economy has been affected by the financial crisis that later became the Great Recession with a focus on the hospitality industry. The paper is divided into several sections where each section’s focus concerns different aspects which are helping us to furthermore understand the topic. The author combines a comparative analysis of main macroeconomic indicators and statistical data of one chosen country regarding the well-being of the hospitality industry to deduce the impacts the recession had caused. The world consists of many countries and therefore the author chose one representative country for each continent to simplify the research. The data used during the analytical part are from the year before; during and after the financial crisis hit the economy to fully detect the trend that occurred in the hospitality sector.
