The Decalogue in the Context of the Hebrew Bible

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá Desaterem a jeho kontextem v rámci hebrejské bible. Zatímco donedávna někteří badatelé předpokládali tzv. Pradesatero deseti stručných tezí, dnes většina badatelů tuto hypotézu opustila. Historicko-kritická vědní disciplína začala přinášet nové poznatky o biblickém textu a dějinách Izraele a postupně vyvracet zažité tradiční pohledy. V pohledu předkládaných nových hypotéz o utváření hebrejské bible, bylo nahlíženo i na Desatero. Panuje konsenzus, že Desatero, jak jej známe, není prastarým útvarem, který formoval tradice Izraele. Obě verze, které se nám v Pentateuchu dochovaly, v Exodu 20:2-17 a Deuteronomiu 5:6-21, charakterizuje deuteronomistický jazyk. Jednotlivé výroky Desatera rovněž byly postupně upravovány a doplňovány. Práce poukazuje na typickou deuteronomistickou frazeologii v rámci Desatera a též na související diskuzi o rozlišení jednotlivých redakčních vrstev. V Desateru nacházíme typické deuteronomistické fráze, např. o Egyptu jako o „domu otroctví“, „nebudeš mít jiné bohy“, „nebudeš se ničemu takovému klanět ani tomu sloužit“, nezneužiješ „jména Hospodina, svého Boha“. V období babylonského exilu po pádu Jeruzaléma se uplatnil deuteronomistický přístup i v převyprávění dosavadních tradic. Vzniká tzv. deuteronomistické dějepravné dílo. Práce se pokouší nastínit charakteristické znaky deuteronomistické vrstvy hebrejské bible a rovněž program a cíle jejích autorů. V rámci obsahové analýzy a srovnání obou dochovaných verzí Desatera se pokouší o porozumění jeho jednotlivým výrokům.

Abstract:

This work deals with the Decalogue and its context in the Hebrew Bible. While some scholars have recently predicted the Pre-Decalogue of ten concise theses, today most of them abandoned this hypothesis. Historical-critical discipline began to bring new knowledge about the biblical text and the history of Israel and gradually disprove rooted traditional views. In the view of new hypotheses about the forming of the Hebrew Bible was viewed the Decalogue. There is a consensus that the Decalogue, as we know it, isn’t an ancient formation that formed the tradition of Israel. Both versions that survived in the Pentateuch in Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21 are characterized by the Deuteronomistic language. Particular statements of the Decalogue were gradually modified and supplemented. This work points to the typical Deuteronomistic phraseology in the Decalogue and also the related discussion about of each layers of editorial. In the Ten Commandments we find typical Deuteronomistic phrases such as Egypt as a "house of bondage", "you shall not have other gods", "you shall not bow down to them nor serve them", do not take the "name of the Lord thy God." In the period of Babylonian exile after the fall of Jerusalem the Deuteronomistic approach applied in the retelling of traditions. This creates so-called Deuteronomistic history. This work attempts to outline the characteristics of the Deuteronomistic layers of the Hebrew Bible as well as program and goals of its authors. Within the content analysis and comparison of the two versions of the Ten Commandments this work is trying to understand their individual statements.
