Geolocation in terms of privacy

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Geolokace z hlediska ochrany soukromí“ se zabývá geolokací a jejím vztahem k soukromí. První kapitola vymezuje klíčové pojmy, které se v práci vyskytují. Je zde popsáno, co je geolokace a ve stručnosti také metody jejího fungování. Dále je zde vymezeno soukromí a jeho ukotvení v legislativě. Následující druhá část je zároveň hlavní částí práce. Zabývá se využitím geolokace a jsou zde představeny jak služby primárně na geolokaci založené, tak i oblasti využívající geolokaci jen okrajově. V práci jsou však zahrnuty z důvodu snahy o úplnost, a kvůli možnostem různých forem sledování a následného narušení soukromí. Tato část je zaměřena především na různá mobilní a přenosná zařízení. Na tuto kapitolu navazuje praktická část, týkající se testování uživatelských profilů geolokačních her Foursquare a Gowalla z hlediska jejich vztahu k soukromí. Poslední kapitola přináší doporučené metody, jak chránit soukromí a zabránit tak jeho ztrátě. Cílem práce bylo shrnutí této problematiky, ale práce problematiku nehodnotí ani ji neřeší.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis "Geolocation in terms of privacy" deals with geolocation and its connection with the question of privacy. In the first chapter, there are key words determined, the definiton of the term "geolocation" and there are also described its function methods briefly. Furthermore it determines the term "privacy" and its legislative ground. The following part is the main part of the thesis. It deals with the use of geolocation and describes services based on geolocation system as well as fields which are related with geolocation marginally. The last mentioned are included in thesis to make it complete and because it can be related with stalking and violation of privacy. This part is mainly focused on mobile and portable equipment. The practical part contains testing of user profiles of geolocation games Foursquare and Gowalla in terms of their connection with the question of privacy. The last part recommends methods of privacy protection and prevention of privacy violation. The aim of this work was to summarize the issue, not to rate it neither deal with it.
