The quality of life of pacients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, v jakém rozsahu zasahuje onemocnění diabetes mellitus do kvality života pacientů a jak pacienti s diabetem hodnotí kvalitu svého života v jednotlivých životních oblastech: sociální vztahy, fyzické zdraví, prožívání, prostředí a porovnat ji s kvalitou života běžné populace. Výzkum probíhal na základě výsledků anonymního dotazníkového šetření podle ,,Dotazníku kvality života? Světové zdravotnické organizace WHOQOL-BREF. Průzkumný soubor tvořilo 108 pacientů s diagnózou diabetes mellitus. Z průzkumného šetření bylo zjištěno, že pacienti s diabetem mellitem mají sníženou kvalitu života oproti běžné populaci ve všech sledovaných oblastech. Zaznamenána byla lepší kvalita života u mužů než u žen, u pacientů s diabetem 2. typu léčených dietou a antidiabetiky, pacientů se středním vzděláním. Stejně tak tomu bylo i u klientů s diabetem žijících v manželském, či partnerském svazku. Nejlépe hodnocenou oblastí pacienty s diabetem bylo duševní zdraví.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to ascertain to what extent diabetes mellitus affects the lives of patients diagnosed with this disease and how these patients evaluate their quality of life, compared to the rest of the population, in the following areas: social ties, physical health, life experiences and their surroundings. Research was carried out on the basis of results derived from a project called "the quality of life survey", an instrument created by WHOQOL-BREF, a world health organization. A study group of 108 pacients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. Research revealed that patients diagnosed with Diabetes mellitus have a lower quality of life than the rest of the population in all areas of the study. Further, the survey revealed that of those suffering from diabetes mellitus, male patients, patients treated with special diets and antidiabetics, and patients with at least a secondary school education enjoyed an increased quality of life. Other groups enjoying an increased quality of life included those who were married or in a healthy relationship, while psychologically stable patients were assessed as having the best quality of life.
