Judaism in the context in the first half of the XX. Century

Abstract:

Pro Židy je charakteristické jejich společné vyznání a způsob života, založený na tradicích židovského náboženství. Ovšem po emancipaci, Židé splynuli s okolím a ztratili svou odlišnou identitu. Česká asimilace se neobešla bez antisemitismu. Jako reakce na antisemitismus a nezdařenou asimilaci, vzniklo sionistické hnutí, které usilovalo o založení židovského státu. Pohromou pro Židy se stala 2. světová válka, kdy bylo následkem holocaustu vyvražděno několik milionů Židů. Pro přeživší Židy nečekal snadný návrat do společenského života. Práce se dále zabývá životními strategiemi Židů po roce 1945. Celá práce se skládá ze tří částí. První část je věnována charakteristice judaismu. Druhá část je zaměřena na emancipaci Židů v 19. století, integraci s okolním obyvatelstvem a českou asimilaci. Třetí, nejdůležitější část, tvoří samotné proměny judaismu v 1. polovině 20. století v českých zemích. Pozornost je zaměřena na sionistické hnutí, druhou světovou válku a poválečný život Židů.

Abstract:

For Jews their common religion and life way based on the Jewish religion is characteristic. Of course, after the emancipation, Jews merged with the surroundings and lost their different identity. The Czech assimilation did not do without anti-Semitism. As the reaction on anti-Semitism and unsuccessful assimilation, the Zionistic movement arose, aspiring to establish the Jewish state. Disaster for Jews was the World War II where a few of millions Jews were murdered as a consequence of holocaust. For survived Jews there did not await an easy return to the social life. The thesis also deals with life strategies of Jews after 1945. The whole thesis consists of three parts. The first part is dedicated to the Judaism?s characteristics. The second part is focused on the emancipation of Jews in the 19th Century, on the integration with the surrounding population and the Czech assimilation. The third, most important part is composed of the very Judaism changes in the 1st half of the 20th Century in the Czech lands. Attention is focused on the Zionistic movement, the World War II and the postwar life of Jews.
