Rheological Evaluation of UV Curing of Polymers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaobírá sledováním síťovacích a případně degradačních procesů u polymerních filmů o různém složení nastávajících po jejich vystavení účinkům UV záře-ní. Teoretická část se v první části zaobírá polymery všeobecně a jejich vlastnostmi a dále pak účinky vnějších činitelů na vlastnosti polymerních řetězců. Na tuto část plynule nava-zuje popis použitých materiálů a to konkrétně poly (?-kaprolakton), kyseliny polymléčné a fotoaktivního dopantu benzofenonu. v další části je pozornost věnována reologickým měřením vlastností polymerů. Na závěr teoretické části je uveden přehled použitých analy-tických metod aplikovaných v části praktické. Praktická část se zabývá samotným UV ozařováním polymerních filmů o různých koncen-tracích základních polymerních složek, kterými jsou poly (?-kaprolakton) a kyselina poly-mléčná, s příměsí různých koncentrací fotoaktivního dopantu a sledováním vlivu UV záře-ní na vlastnosti takových systémů. Pomocí infračervené spektroskopie a gelové permeační chromatografie, jakožto metod standardně používaných za účelem hodnocení vlivu UV záření na polymerní materiály, jsou použity pro postihnutí síťovaných případně degradač-ních procesů. Zvláštní důraz je poté kladen na sledování změny strukturních vlastností při-pravených polymerních filmů pomocí reologických měření.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with monitoring of crosslinking and eventually degradation pro-cesses in polymer films of different compositions occurring after their exposure to UV radiation. The first section of the theoretical part deals with the polymers in general and their properties, as well as the effects of external factors on the properties of the polymer chains. This part follows continuously by the description of used materials, namely poly (?-caprolactone), polylactic acid and benzophenone photoactive dopant. In the next part, at-tention is paid to rheological measurements of the properties of polymers. The end of the theoretical part is presented an overview of used analytical methods applied in practical part. The practical part deals with the UV radiation of polymer films with different concentra-tions of the basic polymer components, which are poly (?-caprolactone) and polylactic ac-id, with admixtures of different concentrations of photoactive dopant and monitoring the influence of UV radiation on the properties of such systems. Infrared spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography, as standard methods used to assess the influence of UV radia-tion on polymeric materials, are used to affect crosslinking or degradation processes. Par-ticular emphasis is then placed on monitoring the change in the structural properties of prepared polymer films using rheological measurements.
