V první části práce je zpracována rešerše, kde jsou popsány definice podniku, analýza externího prostředí jako prvky PESTLE analýzy a analýzy konkurence. Dalším zmíněným pojmem je rozhodování, rozhodovací proces a strategické metody, které mají vliv na rozvoj podniku, popsány jsou i pobočka a franšíza a terminologie s nimi spojené.
