Informal caregivers ideas about a possibility of cooperation with formal care providers in securing the care about the elderly with dementia

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na představy neformálních pečovatelů o možnosti spolupráce s formálními poskytovateli při zajištění péče o seniora a demencí. Cílem práce je odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: Jaká očekávání mají neformální pečovatelé vzhledem k terénním sociálním službám při zajištění péče o seniora s demencí? Bakalářská práce je členěna na tři části – část teoretickou, metodologickou a interpretační. V teoretické části jsou nejprve definovány základní pojmy, jako je senior, stáří, demence, péče, formální a neformální pečovatelé a také očekávání. V metodologické části je zpracována výzkumná strategie a metoda sběru dat. Byla zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná strategie a polostrukturovaný rozhovor. V interpretační části jsou zodpovězeny dílčí výzkumné otázky - zaměřené na očekávání neformálních pečovatelů vzhledem k potřebám seniora s demencí, vzhledem k jejich vlastním potřebám a také vzhledem ke spolupráci s terénními sociálními službami. V závěru práce je zodpovězena hlavní výzkumná otázka. Očekávání neformálních pečovatelů vztahující se ke zkoumaným oblastem jsou propojena a souvisejí spolu. Nelze jednoznačně oddělovat potřeby seniora s demencí a neformálního pečovatele.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of informal caregivers’ ideas about a possibility of cooperation with formal care providers in securing the care about the elderly with dementia. The aim of the thesis is to answer an elementary research question: What are expectations of informal caregivers regarding to social services in field in a case of securing the care about the elderly with dementia? The bachelor thesis has been divided into three parts – theoretical, methodological and interpretative. At first there have been elementary terms of the thesis defined at the theoretical part, such as the elderly, old age, dementia, care, formal and informal caregivers and a also expectation. There has been research strategy and collection technique processed at the methodological part. A qualitative research strategy and semi-structured interview have been chosen. There have been partial research questions answered at the interpretative part. The partial research questions have been focused on expectations of informal caregivers regarding needs of the elderly with dementia, regarding their own needs and also regarding the cooperation with social services in field. There has been the elementary research question answered at the end. The expectations of informal caregivers regarding the researched areas are linked and they relate to each other. It is not possible to separate the needs of informal caregiver and the needs of the elderly.
