The Trajectories of Iranian-Afghan-Pakistani Relations

Abstract:

Afghánistán, Írán a Pákistán mají zčásti společnou historii díky starověkým říším, kdy ještě větší pojítko nalézáme v koloniálních dobách, kde byly hlavně pod vlivem Ruska a Spojeného království. Země jsou dnes interesantní, vzhledem ke střetu šíitského a sunitského islámu. Díky náboženství a sporům s koloniálními mocnostmi se dostávají do podvědomí a často je kvůli teroristickým hrozbám a nízkému rozvoji vnímáme negativně. Práce se zabývá trajektorií íránsko-afghánsko-pákistánských vztahů v kontextu regionální politiky a bezpečnosti, jenž způsobuje politickou nestabilitu v okolních státech a brání integraci regionu. První část představuje teoretický rámec, ve kterém bude popsána teorie závislosti od Roberta Keohane and Josepha NYE spolu s teorií rovnováhy moci a z hlediska bezpečnosti bude představen konflikt a jeho výzkum. Dále se práce zabývá od historie po současnost charakteristikou vzájemných vztahů. V poslední pasáži budou vylíčeny nejdůležitější hlavní problémy trojice vztahů za pomocí 3 zmiňovaných teorií. Pojítko vztahů nalézáme především v Afghánistánu, od kterého se dění v regionu vyvíjí a ve kterém státy uplatňují rozdílné zájmy. Mezi všemi státy panuje vzájemná závislost, kterou nejvíce ovlivňuje Írán a do budoucna bude záležet především na Indii či Saudské Arábii, jak se k regionu postaví.

Abstract:

Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan share a partly history due to the ancient empires, and an even greater link is found in colonial times, where they were under the influence of Russia and United Kingdom. The countries are interesting today, given the clash between Shiite and Sunni Islam. Thanks to this religion and the disputes with the colonial powers, they are in our subconscious and are often perceived negatively due to terrorist threats and underdevelopment. The thesis examines the trajectory of Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan relations in the context of regional politics and security, which for many may entail triggering political instability in neighbouring states and hinder the integration of the region The first part presents the theoretical framework in which the interdependence theory of Robert Keohane and Joseph NYE will be described together with the balance of power theory and the concept of conflict and its subsequent research will be introduced from a security perspective. In the next part, the thesis deals with the characteristics of interrelationships from history to the present. In the last passage, the most important problems of the trinity of relations will be portrayed with the help of the 3 theories mentioned above. The nexus of the relations is found mainly in Afghanistan, from which the events in the region are evolving and in which states have different interests. There is an interdependence between all states, which is most influenced by Iran, and in the future it will depend mainly on India or Saudi Arabia how the situation develops further.
