Philosophical Aspects of Umberto Eco's Works

Abstract:

Tato práce má za úkol prozkoumat filosofické aspekty díla Umberta Eca. Ústředním tématem a jádrem Ecovy tvorby je sémiotika – věda o znacích, či v širším pojetí věda zabývající se komunikací obecně. Autor bakalářské práce se snaží na základě rešerše pramenné literatury načrtnout teoretický koncept oboru sémiotiky. Zkoumá úlohu znaku v rámci komunikačních (kulturních) procesů, pokouší se definovat vztah výrazu, obsahu a referentu a ptá se po úloze subjektu v sémiotických procesech. Zároveň se snaží demonstrovat, jak se závěry teoretického bádání na poli sémiotiky promítají do Ecovy literární tvorby.

Abstract:

This bachelor paper tasks to examine philosophical aspects of Umberto Eco´s works. Main topic of Eco´s work is semiotics – a science of signs, or in larger sense science of the communication in general. Author of this bachelor paper tries (on the base of literary sources research) to draw the theoretical concept of semiotics as a science. He examines the role of the sign within communication processes, tries to define the relation of expression, kontent and object and asks about the position of subject in semiotic processes. At the same time he tries to demonstrate how the results of semiotic theory are used in Eco´s literary production.
