History of the social care about psychiatric klients in Czechoslovakia in 20. century

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem sociální péče v Českých zemích od počátku 20. století, a to především ve vztahu k duševně nemocným. V úvodu práce jsou vymezena specifika cílové skupiny, dobový pohled na lidi postiţené duševním onemocněním v jednotlivých údobích od starověku a ?péči,? která jim byla poskytována. Popisuje péči ze strany státu, obecní samosprávy a především péči, poskytovanou tradičně v ústavních zařízeních, nejprve v tzv. Zemských ústavech pro choromyslné, později nazývaných Psychiatrické léčebny. Snaţí se také vystihnout fungování a rozsah sociálně zdravotní péče ze strany obecní samosprávy a dobrovolných organizací zabývajících se péčí o tuto cílovou skupinu. Metodologicky práce vyuţívá metody historického výzkumu. Primární prameny byly čerpány především z Archivu města Ostravy a také ze Státního okresního archivu Frýdek Místek. Sekundární zdroje byly čerpány z fondu Moravskoslezské vědecké knihovny. Abstract:

Thesis deals with the development of social care in Czech countries from the beginning of the 20th century, especially with respect to care of persons with mental illness. In introduction of the thesis there are defined the specifics of this persons, the view of them in the various periods in the past from antiquity and the care, which was provided to them. Thesis describes this care from the state and municipal government and especially the care, provided mainly an insane asylum and after in psychiatrics hospitals. It tries to describe the function and range of social and health care from the municipial government and voluntary organization, which worked with this persons. Metodological part of the thesis uses the historic research as a method of research. Primary sources for research were taken from the Archive of Ostrava city and from the State District Archive of Frýdek Místek city. The secondary sources were taken from the Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library.
