Possibilities of management of back pain in persons working in the home office mode

Abstract:

Back pain affects an increasing number of the population of different age groups. The etiology is varied, but common causes of back pain include passive lifestyle, sedentary lifestyle or inappropriate loading and overloading of the musculoskeletal system. One group of the population that suffers from back pain is with sedentary jobs. During prolonged, inappropriate sitting, pain and functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system can occur, which can later contribute to structural disorders. By incorporating kinesiotherapy into normal working hours, an attempt is made to reduce back pain and eliminate the development of vertebrogenic disorders. Also, modifying the ergonomics of the work environment of ergonomic sitting may contribute in the reduction of difficulties. The aim of the study was to reduce the incidence of back pain in home office workers through kinesiotherapy in the form of simple compensatory exercises. Twenty-six probands (16 males and 10 females) with a mean age of 29.04 ? 5.6 years participated in the study. The probands were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Prior to the start of therapy, an initial measurement was performed, which included completion of a questionnaire designed by us, a standardized McGill pain questionnaire, functional measurement of the spine, examination of the musculus pectoralis major, and palpation of the musculus trapezius and mmusculus levator scapulae for the presence of reflex changes. In the experimental group, a therapy in the form of kinesiotherapy was proposed and probands applied it for three months, twice a day. After the three-month intervention, an outcome measurement was performed. The baseline and outcome measurements were identical for both groups. In the experimental group, there was a statistically significant difference in the reduction of the incidence of back pain in the home-office workers after receiving kinesiotherapy. There was no statistically significant difference between baseline and baseline values when assessing the incidence of reflex changes in musculus trapezius and musculus levator scapulae. There was no statistically significant difference between the input and output values when assessing spinal range of motion. Based on these findings, kinesiotherapy appears to be an appropriate therapeutic intervention when attempting to reduce back pain in home office workers

Abstract:

Bolesťami chrbta trpí čoraz väčšie množstvo populácie rôznych vekových skupín. Etiológia je rôznorodá, avšak medzi časté príčiny bolesti chrbta môžeme zaradiť pasívny životný štýl, sedavý spôsob života či nevhodné zaťažovanie a preťažovanie pohybového aparátu. Jednou skupinou populácie, ktorá trpí bolesťami chrbta sú osoby so sedavým zamestnaním. Počas dlhodobého, nevhodného sedu môže dochádzať k vzniku bolesti a funkčných porúch pohybového systému, ktoré neskôr môžu prispieť k vzniku štrukturálnych porúch. Zaradením kinezioterapie do bežnej pracovnej doby je snaha redukovať bolesti chrbta, a tým eliminovať vznik vertebrogénnych porúch. Taktiež úprava ergonómie pracovného prostredia ergonomického sedu môže prispieť v redukcii ťažkostí. Cieľom práce bolo znížiť výskyt bolesti chrbta o osôb pracujúcich v režime home office prostredníctvom kinezioterapie, a to vo forme jednoduchých kompenzačných cvičení. Výskumu sa zúčastnilo 26 probandov (16 mužov a 10 žien) s priemerným vekom 29,04 ? 5,6 roku. Probandi boli náhodne rozdelení do experimentálnej a kontrolnej skupiny. Pred zahájením terapie bolo vykonané vstupné meranie, ktoré obsahovalo vyplnenie nami navrhnutej ankety, štandardizovaného McGillovho dotazníka bolesti, funkčné meranie chrbtice, vyšetrenie m. pectoralis major a palpačné vyšetrenie m. trapezius a m. levator scapulae z dôvodu prítomnosti reflexných zmien. V experimentálnej skupine bola navrhnutá terapia formou kinezioterapie, ktorú probandi aplikovali po dobu troch mesiacov, dvakrát denne. Po trojmesačnej intervencii bolo vykonané výstupné meranie. Vstupné a výstupné meranie prebiehalo u oboch skupín totožne. U experimentálnej skupiny došlo k štatisticky významnému rozdielu pri znížení výskytu bolesti chrbta u osôb pracujúcich v režime home office po absolvovaní kinezioterapie. Pri hodnotení výskytu reflexných zmien v m. trapezius a m. levator scapulae nedošlo k štatisticky významnému rozdielu medzi vstupnými a výstupnými hodnotami. Pri hodnotení rozsahu chrbtice nedošlo k štatisticky významnému rozdielu medzi vstupnými a výstupnými hodnotami. Na základe týchto poznatkov sa kinezioterapie javí ako vhodná terapeutická intervencia pri snahe o zníženie bolesti chrbta u osôb pracujúcich v režime home office.
