Information behavior of radio presenters

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on qualitative research of information behavior of radio presenters. It analyzes this phenomenon across all types of radio ownership. In the theoretical part we pay close attention to the basic concepts, that relate to the topic. We explain terms like communication, audience, radio (commercial, public, community), information behavior etc. Throughout the work, we focus mainly on the figure of radio presenter, as the main representative of the media organization, during broadcast. In the empirical part, we have an in depth view of our interviews with radio presenters. Our approach to the data we obtained was based on principles of Grounded theory. We tried to find out in particular: How does the presenter prepare for broadcasting and what kind of information behavior is connected with it? What pressures act on the information content of the broadcast? How much influence does a presenter have on the broadcast itself? In addition, we managed to collect in our interviews series of interesting testimonies from radio environment. Our goal was to get an idea of ​​what it is like to work in a radio as a presenter, and establish a theoretical basis for further research on this issue.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zameriava na kvalitatívny výskum informačného správania moderátorov rozhlasu naprieč všetkými typmi vlastníctva tohto média. V teoretickej časti venujeme značnú pozornosť vysvetleniu základných pojmov, ktoré s tematikou súvisia. Rozoberáme napríklad komunikáciu, publikum, rádio (komerčné, verejnoprávne, komunitné), informačné správanie atď. V celej práci sa zameriavame najmä na postavu moderátora, ako hlavného zástupcu mediálnej organizácie vo vysielaní. V empirickej časti sme podrobne rozoberáme rozhovory s moderátormi rozhlasu. K získaným dátam sme pristupovali na základe ukotvenej teórie. Snažili sme sa najmä zistiť: Ako vyzerá príprava moderátora na vysielanie a aké informačné správanie je s tým spojené? Aké tlaky pôsobia na informačný obsah vysielania? Akým spôsobom ovplyvňuje moderátor vysielanie? Okrem toho sa nám z rozhovorov podarilo zozbierať zaujímavé výpovede z rozhlasovej praxe. Naším cieľom bolo získať predstavu o tom ako vyzerá práca moderátora v rozhlase a vytvoriť teoretický základ pre ďalší výskum tejto problematiky.
