FROM INTERPRETATION TO AUTHORSHIP

Abstract:

V této práci se zabývám návratem k příběhu v současné dramatice. Metodou drama-turgické analýzy a jejího zobecnění zkoumám, jaké formální prostředky využíva-jí k vyprávění příběhu současní dramatici. Snažím se reflektovat, jak se v jejich tvor-bě odráží vliv post-dramatického divadla, filmu, seriálu a virtuální komunikace. Na zá-kladě rozboru jednotlivých her zkoumám, jak se může způsob vyprávění přizpůsobovat tématu her. Zajímá mě, jak mohou autoři svojí tvorbou uchopovat současný chaotický svět a syntetizovat jej v příběh. Ve své práci tvrdím, že absence jednotného dramatického stylu ústí ve formální eklektičnost současných dramatiků. Popisuji roz-tříštění divácké obce a pokládám otázku, zda může současný autor psát nejen malé příběhy pro omezené publikum, ale zda může najít způsob, jak napsat hru ze součas-nosti pro velké jeviště. Dále se zabývám vztahem textu a jeho realizace v současném divadle. Zabývám se postavením autora textu ve vztahu k tzv. metakreativní nebo též tzv. autorské režii. V praktické části diplomové práce se věnuji svým dramaturgickým zkušenostem v rámci magisterského studia a svým autorským pokusům o dramatické texty. V této části se věnuji tématu úpravy textu a zásahu do cizího díla a dále popisuji vznik vlastních her z hlediska volby tématu a prostředků.

Abstract:

In this Master’s Thesis I analyze the comeback of story in contemporary drama. I use the method of dramaturgical analysis and its generalization; I examine what formal means contemporary playwrights use. I try to reflect on how are their plays influenced by post-dramatic theatre, films and series and virtual communication. I try to explore how the storytelling of the plays can change according to the depicted theme of the play. I am interested in finding out how contemporary playwrights can get hold of to-day’s chaotic world and synthesize it into a story. I claim in my thesis that the absence of a universal style results in contemporary playwrights’ formal eclecticism. I describe the atomization of the audience and I try to question whether a contemporary playwright can write not only small stories, but if they can find a way to write a play about today’s reality for a big stage. I also address the issue of the relationship between text and its staging in contemporary theatre. I address the position of the playwright in relation to so called metacreative or so called authorial directing. I con-sider the boundaries of interpretation and authorship. In the practical part of this thesis I reflect on my dramaturgical experience during my Master studies and on my playwrighting experience. In this part I write about the adaptation of plays of others and describe the creative process of writing my plays focusing on the choice of central theme and formal means.
