Victimization of seniors

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se snaží zmapovat současnou situaci seniorů a zacházení s nimi v domácím prostředí na území Opavska. Práce se dělí na část kompilační a část empirickou. V kompilační části jsou definovány pojmy, které objasňují problematiku stáří, specifika syndromu týraného, zneužívaného a zanedbávaného seniora. Jsou zde popsána specifika činnosti pracovníků pečujících o seniory a možnosti poskytování sociálních služeb. Především je pozornost věnována jak zásadním problémům ohledně latentnosti násilí na seniorech v domácím prostředí, tak efektivnímu zakotvení této problematiky v legislativě a zavedení účinné prevence v této oblasti do praxe. V empirické části byly za účelem výzkumného šetření realizovány rozhovory s pracovnicemi v sociálních službách na území Opavska. Cílem práce je popsat problematiku stáří a dále zmapovat současnou situaci seniorů a zacházení s nimi v domácím prostředí na území Opavska.

Abstract:

This thesis seeks to map out the current situation of senior citizens and their treatment in the home environment on the territory of the Opava region. The work is divided into two parts: compilatory and empirical. In the compilatory part: the terms that clarify the issues of old age and the specifics of the syndrome of a maltreated, abused and neglected senior, are defined. The specifics of the activities of the staff caring for the elderly and the possibility of providing social services are described here. Attention is paid, above all, to the critical issues regarding latency of violence committed on the elderly in their home environment as well as effective implementation of this issue in the legislation and the introduction of effective prevention in this area into practice. The empirical part contains interviews conducted with the staff working in the areas of social services on the territory of the Opava region for the purpose of the research. The goal of this thesis is to describe the issues of old age, and then to map out the current situation of senior citizens and their treatment in the home environment on the territory of the Opava region.
