Abstract:

Práce se zabývá teoretickým i praktickým rozlišením pojetí přináležitosti k národu ve třech evropských zemích – Nizozemí, Polsku a České republice. Státy jsou vybrány tak, aby odpovídaly určitým ideálním typům – Nizozemí jako politický národ, Polsko spadá do kategorie etnického národa a Česká republika je kombinací obou typů. Kromě teoretických konceptů týkajících se národa, nacionalismu, národní identity a dichotomie etnického a občanského pojetí národa se práce zabývá i vztahem k cizímu. Tento pojem je pak v praktické části vztahován právě k etnickému a občanskému principu. Praktická část je postavena na sekundární analýze datového souboru ISSP modulu Národní identita II. z let 2003/2004. Empirická analýza pracovních hypotéz potvrdila existenci dvou principů i výše stanovené rozdělení zemí podle těchto principů. Otázky původu jako hlavní ukazatele etnického přístupu byly v otázce přináležitosti za nejdůležitější považovány v Polsku, naproti tomu v Nizozemí byl nejvíce zdůrazňován respekt k politickým institucím a zákonům. Obyvatelé české republiky nepovažovali ani jeden z těchto aspektů za nejdůležitější. Dále jsem zkoumala vztah obyvatel těchto zemí k cizímu, a to pomocí otázek týkajících se zvyků a tradic menšin, názoru na ekonomickou či společenskou prospěšnost přistěhovalců pro většinovou populaci, navýšení či snížení počtu imigrantů a přístupu k druhé generaci přistěhovalců. Ačkoliv předešlé výsledky i závěry z analýzy otázek vztahu k cizímu opět dokazovaly rozdělení zemí podle etnického a občanského principu, všeobecně můžeme tvrdit, že se v otázkách národa a národní identity jednotlivé evropské země vzájemně názorově přibližují.

Abstract:

This study focuses on theoretical and practical differentiation of the notion of appurtenance to the nation in three European countries – the Netherlands, Poland and the Czech Republic. The states have been selected so that they correspond with certain ideal types – the Netherlands represents a political nation; Poland falls into the category of ethnic nation and the Czech Republic is a combination of both the types. Apart from theoretical concepts concerning nation, nationalism, national identity and dichotomy of the ethnic and civil notion of nation, this study also deals with the relationship towards the other. This notion is related to ethnic and civil principal later in the practical section. The practical section is based on the secondary analysis of the data file ISSP module National Identity II. from the years 2003/2004. Empirical analysis of the working hypotheses confirmed the existence of two principals, as well as the above-stated differentiation of countries according to these principals. Questions of descent as the main indicator of ethnic approach were – concerning appurtenance – considered the most important in Poland, while in the Netherlands respect to political institutions and the law was emphasised. The Czech Republic citizens did not consider any of these aspects as being the most important. I also studied the relationship of citizens of these countries towards the other with the help of questions concerning habits and traditions of minorities, their opinion of the immigrants’ economic or social contribution to the majority population, increasing or decreasing the number of immigrants and their approach to the second generation of immigrants. Even though the previous results and conclusions following from the analysis of the questions about the relationship to the other again confirmed the differentiation of the countries according to the ethnic and civil principal, in general it is possible to claim that the individual European countries draw nearer towards each other in the questions of nation and national identity.
