Role of riparian vegetation in reduction of stream ecosystem impairments

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vyhodnocením společného působení charakteru vegetace říčního břehu a nivy, zdrojů znečištění v povodí a hydromorfologické degradace na chemismus vody a na biotické indexy makrozoobentosu a fytobentosu. Ekologický náhled do problematiky říčního ekosystému, bioindikace a nápravných opatření týkajících se částí říční sítě ovlivněné lidskou činností je zpracován formou rešerše odborných publikací v první části práce. Následuje pilotní studie, jejíž jedna část je věnována klasifikaci říční sítě z hlediska potencionálního rizika plošných a bodových zdrojů znečištění a také z hlediska charakteru vegetace na březích toku a v říční nivě v počítačovém software ArcGIS. Získané informace byly připojeny k datovému souboru poskytnutém školitelem práce, který obsahuje údaje o chemismu vody a vybraných taxonech makrozoobentosu na zadaných lokalitách. V programu Statistica byl poté pomocí základních statistických metod posouzen vliv vegetace na kvalitu vody a strukturu společenstev říčních bezobratlých živočichů dna.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the assessment of the mutual effect of the character of the riverbank and floodplain vegetation, pollution sources in the watershed and the hydromorphological degradation on the water chemistry and biotic indices of macroinvertebrates and phytobhentos. Ecological topics of the river ecosystem, the biondication and restoration methods of the river parts affected by human activities are composed of scientific publications in the first part of the thesis. The pilot study is following, one part deals with the classification of river systems in terms of potential risk areas and point sources of pollution and also to the vegetation on river banks and the floodplain, using the computer software ArcGIS. The acquired information was connected to the data file provided by the supervisor and includes data on the water chemistry and chosen taxa of macroinvertebrates on assigned sites. After that the impact of the vegetation on the water quality and the structure of bentic macroinvertebrates was assessed using basic statistic methods with the computer programe Statistica.
