Echoes of the comic book tradition in contemporary Italian literature. Gipi: unastoria; Zerocalcare: Dimentica il mio nome

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the position of Italian comics in contemporary literary scene. The impulse to choose this topic was the candidacy of two graphic novels for the prestigious literary award Premio Strega. In 2014, it was the book unastoria, written by the Italian author Gipi, one year later the book Dimentica il mio nome, written by Zerocalcare, participated in the competition. This work analyses these two books from the perspective of literature and from the perspective of comics, and then compares them. In the end, the thesis deals with the possible reasons for the candidacy.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá pozicí italského komiksu na současné literární scéně. Podnětem k výběru tématu byla nominace dvou komiksových románů na prestižní literární cenu Premio Strega. V roce 2014 to byla kniha unastoria italského komiksového autora Gipi, o rok později o cenu usiloval titul Dimentica il mio nome od Zerocalcare. Tato práce obě knihy analyzuje a to z pohledu jak literárního, tak komiksového, s cílem následného srovnání. Závěrem se text zabývá možnými důvody pro zmíněnou nominaci.
