Jackson Pollock: Artistic Personality with Media Impact

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the painter Jackson Pollock and the view of the media on his person. It focuses on the action painting and techniques that Pollock invented. Using the methods of analysis and descriptions, it defines the concept of media image and explores its impact on artists. It also considers the importance of the acquired media image directly for Pollock. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the extent to which the media affected his life and to highlight the differences between his media image and reality.

Abstract:

Bakalárska diplomová práca sa venuje maliarovi Jacksnu Pollockovi a pohľadu médií na jeho osobu. Zameriava sa na akčnú maľbu a techniky, ktoré Pollock vynašiel. Analýzou a deskripciou vymedzuje pojem mediálny obraz a skúma jeho dopad na umelcov. Posudzuje tiež, aký význam má nadobudnutý mediálny obraz priamo pre Pollocka. Cieľom bakalárskej práce je vyhodnotiť, do akej miery zasiahli médiá do jeho života a upozorniť na rozdiely medzi jeho mediálnym obrazom a realitou.
