Boy vs. Lad: Dialectical Words for People and Life Stages in the Czech Language Atlas and the Czech National Corpus

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám problematikou dialektů na území České republiky ze dvou hledisek - dialektologického a korpusového. Pracuji s dialektologií osob a životních cyklů. Konkrétně analyzuji tato slova: dítě, děvče, chlapec, žena, muž, maminka, tatínek, babička, dědeček. Ve výzkumu používám jednotlivé mapy z prvního svazku Českého jazykového atlasu a Český národní korpus, konkrétně psaný korpus SYN verze 11 a mluvený korpus ORAL2013. Cílem mé práce je porovnat výsledky použitých metod výzkumu a zjistit, jaké dialektické výrazy jsou na našem území v převaze a jaké výrazy se ještě vyskytují v úzu.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis, I dealt with the issue of dialects in the territory of Czech Republic. I analyse dialectical words of people and life stages. Specifically, I analyse these words: child, girl, boy, woman, man, mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpa. For research, I use the Czech language atlas (ČJA) and the Czech national corpus (ČNK), specifically the written corpus SYN and the spoken corpus ORAL2013. The goal of my work is to compare the results of the research methods and to find out which dialectical expressions prevail in our territory and which are still preserved in actual language usage.
