Abstract:

Diplomová práce "Odkaz Karla Máje: Čeští a Němečtí 'Indiáni' vs. Kulturní Apropriace" zkoumá fenomén "Indiánského hobbyismu". Zaměřuje se na rozpracování komplexnosti hobbyismu, zda-li je to forma kulturní apropriace, a jak na to pohlíží současní původní obyvatelé. Hlavní pozornost je věnována vyobrazování kultur původních obyvatel hobbyisty a jak jsou tím ovlivněni současní původní obyvatelé. Cílem této práce je poskytnout kulturní studii s kritickým přehledem o fenoménu hobbyismu, co jsou je hlavní problematikou, která negativně ovlivňuje současné kultury původních obyvatel a určit, zda-li se jedná o formu kulturní apropriace.

Abstract:

The master's thesis "Karl May's Legacy: Czech and German "Indians" vs. Cultural Appropriation" explores the phenomenon of "Indian hobbyism". It focuses on elaborating the complexity of hobbyism, if it is a form of cultural appropriation, and how the contemporary Native peoples view it. The main focus of the thesis is on the portrayal of Native cultures by the hobbyists and how it impacts the contemporary Native cultures. The aim of the thesis is to provide a cultural study, which involves a critical overview on the phenomenon of hobbyism, what are the key problematic issues that negatively impact contemporary Native cultures and to determine whether it is a form of cultural appropriation.
