Czech fashion in the developed Gothic in the light of Bible of Wenceslas IV.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá českou vrcholně gotickou módou doby Václava IV. Východiskem pro bádání bylo velké množství iluminací Bible Václava IV. Ty se porovnávaly s několika dalšími (on-line dostupnými) rukopisy 14. a počátku 15. století a s odbornou literaturou. Práce se věnuje nejprve Bibli Václava IV. jako takové. Zaměřuje se na její vznik, způsob zobrazování skutečnosti a význam. Práce se dále zabývá postupně mužským, ženským a dětským oděvem. Nepopisuje pouze módní oblečení, ale snaží se najít rozdíly v odívání jednotlivých společenských vrstev, ukázat odlišnosti mezi šatem bohatých a chudých či urozených a prostých lidí. Práce se také zajímá o různou podobu oděvu za rozličných okolností, například při příležitosti korunovace, pohřbívání, práce, války, cestování či pobytem doma.

Abstract:

This work concern itself with the gothic fashion worn in the czech lands in the era of the king Wenceslas VI. The main resource for the research is a huge number of illuminations in the Bible of Wenceslas IV., which is compared with some of the other selected manuscripts (on-line availables) of the 14th and the beginning of 15th century and the meaning of literature. At first the work treat of the Bible of Wenceslas IV. in itself. It is focused on how did this arise and what does it reflect and represent. The work is interested in the men?s, women?s and children?s clothing. The work concern itself not only with the fashionable clothing but most on the finding and showing the differences between particular social levels, between the rich and the poor ones or between the noble and the lowborns. It is also interested in the differences of clothing on various occasions, for example the oportunity of corronation, funeral, work, war, travelling or being at home.
