Scar tissue treatment in patients with total knee replacement in the acute phase: standard treatment and kinesio tape

Abstract:

Now a days Men have more and more need to run, both because of the chaotic rhythms of life and, paradoxically, to fight against the sedentary lifestyle and the resulting pathologies. Considering the connection between the wellness and lifestyle of a person , it is essential to encourage those elements that facilitate as much as possible a positive, rewarding, constructive and motivating lifestyle. For these reasons I have decided to take up an experimental research process by analyzing one of the aspects that may limit the movement that is the basis of the activities of daily life. The aim of this research is to confirm that the use of post-operative scar kinesiotape outcome of total knee arthroplasty can help premature or better recovery of the autonomy of patients. For this purpose, we' ve taken a control group of 15 people: 8 male, 7 female who have taken two different rehabilitation paths (with / without kinesiotape). The first part of the study concerns the analysis of flexion, and extension of the VAS related to pain at this stage significant differences between the two protocols in question haven't been noticed. During second stage the scar has been analyzed through the Manchester scar scale, at this stage we' ve noticed of significant facts about the scar adhesion: the group treated with the kinesiotape statistically reduced the surface adhesion compared to the control group in which remained unchanged. Final results have shown that the application of kinesiotape can affect the surface adhesion but that these cannot determinate the limitation of the knee joint range.

Abstract:

Oggigiorno l'uomo ha sempre piů bisogno di correre; sia perché i ritmi sono frenetici sia, paradossalmente, per combattere la sedentarietŕ e le conseguenti patologie. Prendendo in considerazione la coniugazione tra il benessere della persona e la vita, risulta indispensabile favorire quegli elementi che agevolano il piů possibile uno stile di vita positivo, gratificante, costruttivo e motivante. Per queste motivazioni ho deciso di intraprendere un percorso di ricerca sperimentale analizzando uno degli aspetti che piů possono limitare il movimento che č alla base delle attivitŕ della vita quotidiana. La finalitŕ della ricerca č di appurare se l'utilizzo del kinesiotape sull'esito cicatriziale postintervento di protesi totale di ginocchio possa favorire una precoce o migliore ripresa dell' autonomia del paziente. A tale scopo č stato preso un gruppo campione di 15 persone, 8 di sesso maschile e 7 di sesso femminile che hanno intrapreso due percorsi riabilitativi differenti (con/senza kinesiotape). Una prima parte dello studio riguarda l' analisi della flessione, della estensione e della VAS riferita al dolore; in questa fase non sono state rilevate differenze significative tra i due protocolli in esame. In una seconda fase č stata valutata la cicatrice tramite la scala Manchester scar scale; in questa fase sono stati rilevati dei dati significativi riguardanti l' aderenza cicatriziale: il gruppo trattato con il kinesiotape ha ridotto statisticamente le aderenze superficiali rispetto al gruppo di controllo nel quale sono rimaste invariate. I risultati ottenuti hanno evidenziato che l' applicazione di kinesiotape puň andare ad influire sulle aderenze superficial,i ma che quest'ultime non sono determinanti nella limitazione dell'escursione articolare del ginocchio.
